FLOP = "FLoating-point OPeration" つまり、浮動小数点演算の回数を指す流儀もあります。
従ってこの流儀では "FLOPs" はただの複数形であり、
「一秒あたりの」浮動小数点演算回数は FLOP/s のように表記します。

これはですねえ、1浮動小数点演算が1命令とは限らないのでそういう単位が必要なんですよ
特に昔は浮動小数点演算は重かったですからね
